Bronte lining up a putt in the blustery conditions

Sophie, Bill and Bronte travelled up to Newcastle for the NSW Catholic schools trial. The one day event was held at the picturesque Belmont Golf Club which is a beautiful course with a back 9 that hugs the coastline.

HOW THE DAY BEGAN:

Sophie & Bronte headed off in the morning field under favourable conditions. Sophie played well and carded a 2 under par to win the CCC girl’s division.

This gained her selection in the CCC Junior State team. Bronte didn’t have the best day and missed out with a 14 over.

The nature of the event determines you only have the one opportunity, however, we are sure Bronte will return next year.

THE AFTERNOON:

Bill teed off in the afternoon field and experienced the more challenging conditions.

The wind had picked considerably, and due to the fact Belmont is a seaside course this made scoring much tougher. Bill got off to a rough start, including a triple bogie on the Front 9, but a much improved back 9 of one under ensured he signed for a 5 over, 77, and also qualified for the CCC Junior State Team.

The team will play in Sydney against the other state school teams (public and independent) from June 24 to 27. From this tournament, a NSW all schools team will be selected.
