Catalina Club junior members Bill Eppelstun and Keith Tompsett have brought home a title after a massive feat in the Men’s NSW Country Championships event. Representing the South Coast, Bill and Keith, alongside Blake and Jye Halls of Mollymook, provided the best performance in the Interdistrict group event to win the coveted title.

The two day event kicked off shortly after Catalina’s massive South Coast Open. Competing in the qualifying tournament, Bill was feeling thoroughly warmed up and ready to snag a win for the South Coast. The duo travelled to Cowra Golf Club on September 20 where they formed a team with the Halls.

The foursome played strongly throughout the 36-hole stroke competition, securing a final score of 567 to beat other teams hailing from Canberra, Newcastle, Illawarra and the Hunter Valley.

In the individual event, Bill was named “one to watch” by GolfNSW, and certainly met those expectations.

After a solid first round of even par, Bill lit up on Sunday, and at one stage reached seven under with three holes remaining. With an untimely bogey on the 17th and a double on the 18th, Bill signed for a four under 68 to finish third overall, four shots behind the eventual winner, Jye Halls, also from the South Coast team.
