JUNIORS & CADETS
Catalina Club has one of the best Junior & Cadet programs on the far south coast and was the winner of Junior Club of the Year 2024. Led by Director of Golf and PGA Club Professional of the Year, Rodney Booth, the program takes in cadets from the age of 8 to train them to a level to join the Under 18s junior team. On the team we have rising stars of Australia golf playing at state, national and international level who inspire and guide the up and coming talents on the Catalina team.

Future Champions Take Centre Stage at Catalina
The 2026 Clyde Auto Catalina Club Junior Open once again reinforced Catalina’s reputation as one of regional NSW’s leading centres for junior golf development.
Drawing 85 Junior and Cadet golfers from across NSW and the ACT, the event showcased the depth of young talent emerging through the game’s competitive pathways. Players travelled from Sydney, Canberra, the South Coast and beyond to compete in one of the region’s premier junior tournaments.
Despite challenging winter conditions, the standard of golf remained exceptionally high. The major Junior titles were claimed by Harry Gourlay (The Australian Golf Club) with a superb 67 in the Boys Championship and Sophia Chau (Federal Golf Club) in the Girls Championship. In the Cadet divisions, Coen Hatton and Evie Powell secured the Boys and Girls titles respectively.
Alongside the Junior Open, the historic Don Wallace Shield continued its proud tradition, with James Dickinson claiming the 2026 title with an impressive round of 73.
Beyond the trophies, the Junior Open represents something much larger. It provides an important stepping stone for aspiring golfers pursuing representative, state and national opportunities while fostering the resilience, sportsmanship and competitive spirit that define the game.
As one of the largest junior golf programs on the South Coast, Catalina remains committed to creating pathways for young athletes to learn, compete and thrive. Events such as the Junior Open are a powerful reminder that the future of Australian golf is already making its mark.
