Local Member, John Neeson, recently travelled to Tamworth & Longyard Golf Club to compete in the NSW Senior Championships.
The weather was quite warm, reaching well into the 30’s each day with plenty of humidity.
HOW IT STARTED:
Having not seen the course before, John was at a disadvantage which reflected a little in his first 2 rounds of 77 & 75.
THE FINAL DAY:
Starting the final day, 4 shots adrift of the leader John’s even par score of 72 not only caught the leader but gave him a 2 shot victory in the Over 70’s Division.
With the qualifying age of players being 50 these days, there were golfers many years to John’s junior, however he finished a very commendable 38th in the filed of 132 overall.
JOHN’S REFLECTIONS OF THE EVENT:
In John’s words, he was the best in the State of the Septuagenarians (Over 70’s) which is no mean feat.
John has been signing for some impressive scores around Catalina of late. He shot his age a few weeks back, 72 at age 72.
This comes after he shot an impressive 68 last year, a great effort for anyone to break their age.
Congratulations to John on his efforts!
