A weekend of golf discovery: Catalina Classic invites over 550 entries
2026’s Catalina Classic saw well over 550 entries on our 27-hole course from October 30 to November 1 for championship golf and the famed Festival of Golf.
In Catalina Club’s final major tournament of 2026, Catalina’s 27-hole course and Club team showcased the best hospitality and even better playing conditions for three days of championship golf, with a prize pool of almost $5,000 up for grabs.
Kicking off the event on Friday 30 October, 187 golfers joined the morning’s 2-person Ambrose event, with members from 20 New South Wales golf clubs joining the field.
In the men’s division, Catalina Club members James Jones and Murray Karlson did their club proud, scoring nett 62 to take the prize, while Deborah Timmins and Jennifer Nelson from Woolooware Golf Club took the ladies title with 64.5 nett. In the mixed division, duo Michael and Karen Parker clinched the first prize with 62 nett.
While the competition unfolded, premium partner brands Mizuno, Mizuno, Titleist, Srixon and Cleveland Golf all shared the latest equipment and innovative products, allowing members and visitors the opportunity to enhance their game.

Swinging into a big weekend on the greens, 200 golfers joined the Ladies and Men’s Stableford events, with Woolooware Golf Club continuing their strong presence and commitment to competition. With 44 points, Jennifer Nelson from Woolooware Golf Club took home the top prize, with local member Rosemary Sumbak clinching the B Grade prize and Lyn Beardsley claiming first in C Grade.
In the men’s field, Paul Galea from The Grange carded the best score of 45, followed by Michael Riley in B Grade and Michael O’Rourke in C Grade. Despite a brief interruption of rain, stakes were high with 101 men competing for the Stableford title.

Sunday – the first day of November – saw a full field join the 4-person Irish Teams Stableford, with the best two scores selected for each hole from the 4-person team.
With Cronulla Golf Club and Woolooware Golf Club strong on the field, it was a fun but highly competitive event, with Cronulla ultimately taking the win thanks to David Finlay, Margaret Finlay and John Beardsley from Cronulla Golf Club, paired with Jo Haran from Woolooware Golf Club. The team narrowly took the win from a fellow Cronulla team by just one point.
All visiting metropolitan teams proved to be formidable on Catalina’s course, making for three excellent days of golf, spirited competition and great intra-club camaraderie.
Next on Catalina’s calendar is the major Batemans Bay Open in May 2027. Visit our Tournaments page for more information.
