Last week, Keith Tompsett and Alex Booth headed to the Hunter Valley to play the JNJG International at Cypress Lakes, one of the largest and most prestigious junior tournaments in the country.

This event brings together players not only from across Australia, but also visiting players from New Zealand, Japan, Hawaii, Canada and other countries. Played across 72 holes with no cut after the first two rounds, it was an extensive week of golf for Keith and Alex.

Neither Keith nor Alex played to a level they hoped, but four-round experience is something that is not easy to gain. Keith had scores of 85, 82, 76 and 79. He played progressively better each day but experienced an odd bad hole each round, stopping him from posting better scores.

Alex faired a little better with scores of 77, 75, 78 and 79 across the 72 holes. Like Keith, some small mistakes led to the scorecard looking worse than he played.

Each of the boys can put their experience at the 2026 JNJG International down to valuable experience.
