Par 3 Championships draw 130 golfers to Catalina in a show of precision

Phil O’Toole claimed the men’s nett title, while Sean Harrison carded 54 to claim the overall title on April 12.
On Sunday 12 April, precision was on show at Catalina’s course for the Par 3 Championships.
Almost 130 players took to an amended ‘Old Course’ consisting of 18 par 3’s of varying distances to put every aspect of the short game to the test.
In the Men’s event, Sean Harrison proved once again why experience counts, carding a superb even par 54 to claim the title. He finished ahead of a strong chasing pack, with Derek Melton, Phil O’Toole and Alex Booth all posting 57 (+3). Phil O’Toole backed this up by securing the Men’s Nett title with a score of 54 nett.

In the ladies’ field, Sandy McKenzie delivered a composed round of 63 to take the title, edging out Marg Dickinson by a single shot. Meanwhile, in the nett division, Marg Sinclair led the way with an outstanding 46 nett, finishing four shots clear of Robyn Kennedy.
Catalina’s annual Par 3 Championships was a fantastic day of golf, showcasing just how important precision and control are in shorter games.
