Trio crowned at NSW Junior Championships after dramatic playoff

In a dramatic afternoon, three champions were crowned at the 2025 NSW Junior Championships on July 18 at Catalina Club. Hosted in conjunction with Jack Newton Junior Golf, 236 junior golfers ventured to the Eurobodalla to vie for the renowned title over three heated days of competition.

Representing Catalina Club in the tournament was Bill Eppelstun, Keith Tompsett, Bronte Eppelstun, Jasper Schryver, Lachie Booth, Alex Booth and Emma Peard, with Bill achieving an impressive par of under four to secure fifth place on the boy’s leaderboard.

The ultimate winner of the boy’s division was Ti Fox of Concord Golf Club in Sydney, who started the day with a five-shot lead and was never challenged. Shooting a final round of 70 to finish the event on a cumulative total of 14 under, Fox won by three shots from Rupert Toomey of the Commonwealth Golf Club in Melbourne who shot the days equal best score of 68.

Tompsett had a great event across Moruya Golf Club and Catalina Club, securing an opening score of 70, followed by 78, 73 and 76 to finish in 22nd overall position. A few shots back was the 2025 Batemans Bay Open champion Alex Booth, wrapping up in 30th position.

In the nett event, Catalina Club’s 15-year-old Jasper Schryver took home the trophy with four consistent rounds to take the title by six shots.

In the girls’ division, a gripping battle between Camilla Kim of the Australian Golf Club in Sydney and Ionna Muir of Maroochy River in Queensland ensued in an extended playoff on Catalina’s 18th hole. Kim had a stellar second round, signing 65 with nine birdies to assist her, and in her final round of 75, she found herself tied with Muir.

The duo played with poise as darkness slowly fell over the course, playing through five playoff holes to result in a joint championship title.

The NSW Junior Championships resulted in a stellar week of golf in the Eurobodalla. With the event returning to Catalina Club in 2026, the Club is preparing for more electric competition from Australia’s best junior golfers.
