Xing & Kim claim State Age Championships at Catalina Club

Elbert Kim of Huntingdale Golf Club has claimed the boy’s State Age championship title at Catalina Club for 2026.

After four days of competition in wintry conditions across Catalina Club and Moruya Golf Club, two Victorian junior stars have claimed victory in the Jack Newton Junior Golf State Age Championship.

On Friday 10 July, girls champion Feiyu Xing capped off a huge week to finish at six under par, with stellar rounds of 72, 69, 69 and 74, and brilliantly maintained her lead from day one through to the final at Moruya Golf Club.

Hailing from Peninsula Kingswood, Xing told Jack Newton Junior Golf that she was feeling more composed than ever following her win. She had also recently claimed the Queensland Amateur title the week before.

Feiyu Xing stole the girl’s title with an impressive four rounds of 72, 69, 69 and 74 across Catalina Club and Moruya Golf Club in July 2026.

For Elbert Kim of Huntingdale Golf Club, a strong start of 70 at Catalina spurred him along, and he was able to back up with a round of 69 at Moruya on Wednesday. Closely followed by Haohua Sun from Concord Golf Club, Kim secured his title by just one point.

Catalina Club had the pleasure of hosting three local members, Keith Tompsett, Lachie Booth and Emma Peard, who all vied for a championship title on home soil. Keith’s first two rounds were solid with 73 and 74, but his front nine in round three let him down and finished his campaign in 42nd place.

Catalina junior Keith Tompsett carded two solid first rounds across the region’s golf courses to begin his Age Championships campaign.

Lachie finished his Age Championships tournament with scores of 84, 87, 85 and 80, while Emma’s performance increased as the tournament progressed. She wrapped her last two rounds with scores of 88 and 75 and finished up in 37th place in the girl’s field.

Catalina’s junior golfers were well supported by not just their family, but also members, with 15 Club members volunteering across the tournament.

Catalina Club will invite another stellar field of junior golfers for the South Coast Junior Masters on August 29 and 30, 2026. Head to the Tournaments page for more details on upcoming competitions.
