The Catalina 2025 Veterans Open created a stand ou

The Catalina 2025 Veterans Open created a stand out score from Gary Oakes from Nowra Golf Club in a full field.

On a day where locals dominated the leaderboard, it was Gary who handled the wet conditions the best after 20mm of overnight rain.

In A Grade it was Tom McAlpin with 38 points who led the way. B Grade saw dual Catalina and Royal Canberra Member, Gary Bodman who also had 39 points which was good enough to win from Owen Roe and Rob Lomas, also of Catalina on 36 points.

C Grade saw Gary win from Catalina members, Rossco Norton on 39, Ian Gage on 38, Viv Thornett and Charlie Azzopardi on 37.

In D Grade it was a similar story with Catalina’s Richard Blundell posting 38 points to beat home fellow Club member Sonya Dohnt on 36.

In total Catalina Members posted 11 of the top 12 scores across the 143 players that played.

The Veterans provided a great BBQ throughout the day to keep all players fed.

Thanks to all visitors from up and down the south coast of NSW, 73 in total who joined the 70 Catalina Members to make it very successful and one of our best days of Veterans golf.

Now in its third year, Catalina welcomes back the the Marine Rescue Charity Golf Day for 2025.

The tournament provides an opporturnity for golfers and local business across Batemans Bay to support an organisation that does a huge volume of volunteer work for many in the community and visitors to the south coast of NSW.

Marine Rescue is a largely volunteer led organisation, so events like this are key to raising funds and awareness for them to continue their service and supply the much needed equipment to support their role in the aquatic environment.

The 2025 Marine Rescue Charity Golf Day will be a four-person ambrose on Friday 26th September with an 11.30am shotgun start. Proudly supported by local businesses Soul Tribe Studio, Clyde Auto Sales and Industrial Replacements.

Motorsport fans are in for an exhilarating experie

Motorsport fans are in for an exhilarating experience as the 2025 Lazer Rally of the Bay returns on 2nd August.

Promising high-speed action and exciting competition. The event will feature some of the best rally teams tackling the scenic yet challenging roads of the Eurobodalla region and Shoalhaven forests.

This year, the Rally of the Bay is elevating the competition by introducing a Regularity Trial, giving participants the opportunity to test their precision driving skills under rally conditions. This addition aims to bring together passionate motoring enthusiasts and expand the reach of the event, further solidifying Batemans Bay as a premier destination for motorsport.

The cars and drivers will be celebrating their event with an evening BBQ at Catalina from 8pm onwards.

The ladies hold the golf news at Catalina with a nail-biting dual in the NSW Junior Championships and the Ladies Veterans Open challenger regaining her No.1 position.

The Ladies team at Catalina is one of the biggest in the region, with up and coming stars and formidable mature golfers now preparing for the 2025 Ladies Open this October.

Will Kiama Golf Club ladies team defend last year's win? Or will we see challengers come from metro teams from Sydney, Canberra, Illawarra or nearer to Batemans Bay from the idyllic courses of Braidwood Golf Club , Mollymook Golf Club , Narooma Golf Club, Queanbeyan Golf Club or Eden Golf Club.

Winning the Perfect Plate Awards for the second ye

Winning the Perfect Plate Awards for the second year, Catalina brought the trophy back to the bay for the Far South Coast and Southern Tablelands.

In a well-attended and glittering awards ceremony , with representatives from nearly every club across New South Wales, this fiercely defended competition is a highlight of the club year.

Judges included ex-Rugby star Nathan Hindmarsh, celebrity chef and MasterChef finalist Courtney Roulston and culinary icon, Matt Moran. Representing Catalina, alongside Head Chef Atick, was General Manager, Guy Chapman.

This year Atick created two entries for voting. The winning dish was a 48-hour sous vide and pressé of purebred marbled short rib, partnered with a Meredith goat cheese & prosciutto croquette, smoked sweet potato puree, young peas & broad beans served with a bone marrow jus.

Also well-loved by our members and guests, was the new entry for a very unique pizza. A Tandoori chicken partnered with a house-made butter chicken sauce, fire roasted red capsicum, buffalo mozzarella, Spanish onion & fresh coriander.

Catalina Club received the most votes for the entered dishes from all the clubs in the region, and the team are thrilled that members and guests enjoyed their meals at Catalina and were inspired to vote.

Now it's full steam ahead for our Head Chef to create the new menus for our seasonal menu arriving in Spring to be paired with the largest wine cellar in the region.

August sees the return of Catalina's 2025 Veterans

August sees the return of Catalina's 2025 Veterans Open.

It was an historic tournament last year with the largest ever competitive field for this event, including 60 visitors from across the region. In total, 211 Veterans competed in the event, including those who played in the 9-hole competition, which is the biggest number of Veterans playing at Catalina on a single day.

2024 major prize winners in A Grade were Denis Mulvihill from Nowra, while home teams took out the other three grades. Andrew Jackson-Calway of B Grade, Jamien Wright of C Grade and Julie Gercken of D Grade made a solid effort.

Entry forms are now open for the 14th August tournament. Just jump on our website four current tournament entry forms under the Golf section.

Catalina is also hosting an exhibition in the Golfer's Lounge next to the Golf Shop featuring the future plans of the Golfer's Wing and Course Redevelopment, with video interviews with the architects and QR codes to link to all the details and FAQs.
